Quirkyalone is, according to the
website:
noun/adj. A person who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than dating for the sake of being in a couple. Also, a book, a movement, and an international holiday that happens to fall on February 14. Basically, I don't feel the need to be in an exclusive romantic relationship and I don't feel like dating just because it's expected of me. So I'm happily single and have been for the past... oh, two years? Maybe more. My parents encourage me to date, but I see no reason to when I'm very satisfied with just being with myself.
Stitch n'Bitch is the book that got me back to knitting. My Granny taught me to knit when I was eight years old and I only knew how to knit scarves and other straight lines. The book has opened avenues to knitting I'd hadn't tried before. There's also a very inconsistent group that meets to Stitch n'Bitch, but they generally meet far away and on the weekends when there is no public transportation.
Vox Populi Vox Dei is a kind of motto of mine, ever since I heard it on The West Wing when I was 15, yes you can laugh, big fangirl am I. It literally means "The voice of the people, is the voice of god", I mean how awesome is that! How incredible is that sentiment! The people's choice is the only choice that counts.
Also "V for Vendetta" reference.
And I <3 V so.
Post-Zionism has been attributed to a new school of Israeli Historians known as the
New Historians which have a distinct Left slant in their personal politics which influences their research, which is generally to do with the history of the founding of Israel and its consequences, mainly the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and continuous conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. For more info:
wiki pageFor myself, I chose to identify as such, because I feel that Zionism has been hijacked by the Evangelicals and the Hawks in Power and has completely lost whatever original meaning it had, which was a National identity movement. And as a Jew living in Israel I am by default a part of the Zionist project and I don't have anywhere else to go, so I can't deny the fact that I benefit from Zionism. I think the national identity needs to change and go through some kind metamorphosis (or revolution, in which case
Social Anarchy baby!) and reach a Post national identity which isn't militaristic, racist, religious or chauvinistic as it is now.
Oh, and peace and co-existance with our fellow
human beings who live just a few km's away.
House M.D. is the best show on television since Buffy. Period.
Catwoman (Selina Kyle, that is) was and still is my favourite female comic book character. She's strong, intelligent, compassionate (towards people she considers to be worthy o compassion), beautiful, a cat lady (understatement I know) and can whoop Batman's ass (though he probably likes it, the perv). Add to that that even in her Silver Age incarnation (My GD that purple suit and tail!) she was a villain, but she wasn't evil. She's very much toes the line between what would be considered good and bad, I mean yeah she's a thief, but she only ever stole from the rich or museums, which most likely have insurance. She has her own moral compass which doesn't fit with society's norms is good enough for her.
Batman, IMO, is way waaaay less ethical than almost all the other DC "good" Superheroes. The man is messed up. Is it a shock that he likes his women not so squeaky clean as he proclaims his mission to be?
and I'm interested in
Masculinity because it's something I feel is elusive from me. I have a very firm identity as a woman, but gender is a social and cultural construct and I feel I've internalized femininity and
perform it "intuitively", masculinity as a performance escapes me. Though oddly, my friend has told me that I'm much more butch than I thank I am. Well, just goes to show nothing is set in stones and ovaries (is there slang for them, btw?)
