"It's a fact of life"
Nov. 14th, 2005 06:01 pmThere's nothing I hate more than when someone tells me "I know it's wrong, but what can you do, it's a fact of like and it's been going on for a long time.
I just had a conversation on the phone with a freind of my father's and he annoyed me to no end:
I work for my father (who is a pharmacist), and his friend asked me if I was going to learn the proffession as well in order to take over my dad's business when the time comes, I said no, this is a part time job only. What pissed me off was that he replied: "Pity, it's a good proffesion for a lady...". What the hell!! "What do you mean a lady?" I asked. "It's one of the few jobs where ladies get the same pay as men" he replied. "That's sexism" and he said..."Doesn't change the fact that it's true"
ARGH!!!!
At that point I told him, that if we changed the way women were regarded by buisness, then there wouldn't be any difference in pay.
"Well, it's a fact of life"
Sometimes well meaning elder men, really push my buttons!!
