Okay, so the, er, I hesitate to use this word, "plot" for this episode is the kidnapping of a jock girl whose heart is a ticking time bomb. *nods*
This is me, getting that glazed look, because I couldn't care less.
Not that Steve was giving off any gay vibe by wearing a suit and reading a woman's magazine. Sorry, show, even giving us the heels-to-face angle shot of the new blonde bomb shell in Steve's life isn't fooling anyone.

Lori's character is going for emotional foil, it's awkward, because this would usually be Danny's role. But I'm curious to see where this goes.
Chin and Kono, lovely family moment, in the face of Tom Sizemore's predatory actions as IA captain.
It's pretty significant that a white man is going after a non-white woman, I wonder if anyone has in writing room noticed this is what they were doing.
Steve and Lori, sitting in a tree, making awkward small talk because nothing screams attraction like talking about coffee and tea.
I bet you, so much money, Danny converted him to cream, but that's my fanfiction brain talking.
Of course, tea and coffee was just a distraction from the intel they pulled over each other.
"Couldn't hack the sciences?" you know, I was just talking about this last night, the sciences are a very sexist discipline, which is funny, because in their purest form, the gendered brain is irrelevant when it comes to them.

Also, good work of the heavy handedness show, nothing better than a metaphor smacking me across the face. At least it was plot based and not character based, because the show is generally better at that.
Oh, Lori is compassionate. Good, we need more of this, because Steve has possibly lost what little he had of it after prison and the discoveries of last week.
Good on the show of not canceling out the love of adoptive parents and the pain of giving up a baby so that they could have a better life.

I like Lori, a lot. The lovely awkwardness between her and Steve which was supposed to be UST? So cute, show, I can see what you're doing there. I realise the previous episode scared the crap out of you, but this is, ha, just silly.
I'm reminded of how one of my friends, always tries to make out with me and it's always a running gag in our group of friends, because he's gay and I'm gay, and it just ends up being a big joke.
I love Jenna, a lot. She is still gay! *stomps foot*.
Danny and Steve need some quality time together.
Chin is the only one who is a mature adult, unless it's about Kono, then he's all "she's my cousin but I'm gonna be her big brother in this!"

Obviously, when the new white normatively beautiful comes in and over shadows two non-white characters and "replaces" the tom-boy looking girl... it is problematic politically speaking.

The racial dynamics were creepy as fuck, because of the Sizmore-Park situation. I mean, what are you telling me when a white man with power enters the house of an Asian-Hawaiian without a warrant and basically threatens her just by being a white man who abuses his power. That would have never happened to Chin, Danny or Steve and I resent the fact that this gender essentialism came to play in this ep at all, when in previous eps this really wasn't an issue.
