This is making me cry.
No, seriously....
I'm all teary eyed.

Award-winning Actor Announces His Departure

David Tennant has announced that he will leave the award winning BBC drama Doctor Who when he has completed the filming of four special episodes which will be screened in 2009 and early in 2010.

David Tennant first appeared as The Doctor in 2005 and has gone on to star in three series and three Christmas specials as the tenth incarnation of the Time Lord. The BBC has confirmed that David will continue to play The Doctor in the four specials that will make up the 2009 series before a new Doctor takes over for Series 5. Tennant will also star in the Doctor Who Christmas Special titled The Next Doctor this year.

David Tennant comments "I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it. It would be very easy to cling on to the TARDIS console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will. You would be prising the TARDIS key out of my cold dead hand. This show has been so special to me, I don't want to outstay my welcome.

"This is all a long way off, of course. I'm not quitting, I'm back in Cardiff in January to film four special episodes which will take Doctor Who all the way through 2009. I'm still the Doctor all next year but when the time finally comes I'll be honoured to hand on the best job in the world to the next lucky git - whoever that may be.

"I'd always thought the time to leave would be in conjunction with Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner who have been such a huge part of it all for me. Steven Moffat is the most brilliant and exciting writer, the only possible successor to Russell and it was sorely tempting to be part of his amazing new plans for the show. I will be there, glued to my TV when his stories begin in 2010.

"I feel very privileged to have been part of this incredible phenomenon, and whilst I'm looking forward to new challenges I know I'll always be very proud to be the Tenth Doctor."

Russell T Davies Executive Producer of Doctor Who comments "I've been lucky and honoured to work with David over the past few years - and it's not over yet, the Tenth Doctor still has five spectacular hours left! After which, I might drop an anvil on his head. Or maybe a piano. A radioactive piano. But we're planning the most enormous and spectacular ending, so keep watching!"

Doctor Who returns to our screens on BBC this Christmas. The Next Doctor starring David Tennant, David Morrissey and Dervla Kirwan will be screened on the 25th December on BBC1.

Watch a video of David explaining his decision which includes a preview of the forthcoming episode The Next Doctor by using the media player above.

I, by the way, cannot view the video because I do not live in the bloody UK and I'm unable to find in on YouTube at the moment.
So if any Who Fans is reading this, could you point me to the direction of a video of David Tennant telling us why he's leaving - and
Found! Good luck to him in his next endeavor.
I'll certainly be following.

As for the crying over his leaving...Umm...Given that they've gone through 10 doctors thus far...Was it really that surprising (sorry, on some level I'm just not cut out to be a fangrrl)?

It wasn't surprising, as they've been talking about him leaving pretty much since he started.
But y'know.
Fave actor as Docotor so far.

Aw....But you never know, maybe to avoid hitting 13 they'll introduce a plot twist that the Doctor can change *back*, too, and then actually start bringing back old actors?

I'll be sad, but as long as they cast someone awesome as a replacement, I'll get over it.

Oh, of course.
This the way of the Who-verse.
When he dies... he sorta comes back in a Wibbly-Wobbly way.

Excuse me?

You haven't!?

Start From Series One with Christopher Eccelston.
Though the old Who is great, there's really no need to dig too deeply into the mythology in order to enjoy it completely.

Damn you. Damn you damn you damn you.

You do realize you will have to answer to my professor for all the loss of work hours caused now by The Doctor, right?

Only started last night and have to deal with slow connection, so 3 episodes so far. It's so annoyingly cool!

Watched some episodes of Torchwood, but was less hooked to be honest.

*agitates for Patrick Stuart as the next Doctor*
Honestly?I couldn't stand the 10th Doctor.Too teenagerness and not enough wonder in him: that's what I loved about 9- he was like a kid in a universe-sized carnival, until he had to be serious, and then you saw he was old and lonely and immensely powerful.

Emphatic No! On Patrick Stewart.
Far too much baggage in Sci-Fi to make a good Doctor. You either need someone relatively unknown, or known in other things.
Really don't want a Sci-Fi VIP in the lead. As a guest star, like Anthony Head (Giles from Buffy) did in the second season.

You just described Tennant's Dcotor to the T imo. Eccelston was great, but he was a little too dark. Tennant manages to balance the whole Supreme Being who is lonely and powerful and the endless curiosity of a brain sponge.

Oh! He's so much cuter in person! (And that accent!! Oh, if only he could talk like that on the show..)
Well, I guess That's it, it was time for me to stop watching this show, they've been taking out my favorite characters one by one..I thought I'd stop watching after Eccleston left, but then I kept on watching to see if Billie's gonna get get any better in acting (which, quite remarkably, she did..), and then I kept watching since I kinda grew to like Tennant.. But that's it. This show have so much wasted potential.. It's a bit painful to watch it..

Why wasted potential?

I feel it's one of the best family oriented sci-fi shows of the past decade!
One of thing about Who is that he changes. The BBC has always had Doctor Who as a standard and a way to get new blood.
Tennant has been great, and I'm sad to see him go, but I'm very curious as to how the new incarnation will look... not just the new Doctor, but who the companions will be.
Martha and Donna were better than Rose IMO... who really isn't all that.
Donna I connected best with.

I know that, but I guess for me, it takes time to relate to the characters on this show, and I don't really like the whole constant switching thing.. yeah, I agree, Rose wasn't all that great for the role, but personally I think I like Martha best..
As for the wasted potential: I think it's because they can do so many things on this show, and the scripts always strike me as somewhat limited and repetitive, I mean, it's always some vicious, psychotic/megalomaniac/ plain idiotic alien, that's responsible for apocalyptic/near apocalyptic scenarios.. I don't know.. Too tired to really get into it right now, but I just wish that for once they won't limit themselves to what they think the average viewer expects, and do something brilliant, unexpected, complex..
Again, just my own prospects..

Oh yeah, he was wonderful. I love Christopher Eccleston as a matter of fact (have you seen Revenger's Tragedy? It is beautiful!) but Tennant was iconic as far as Who's go. I would say he revigorated a whole new generation of followers, along with the rest of the production staff of course.

No, I hadn't seen that, but I very much love Eccleston as a performer, if it weren't for him I doubt I would have startd watching Who.
But yeah, Tennant is the iconic one every bit as much as Tom Baker and Peter Davison.
I can't wait to see whose going to be the 11th in 2010.

V and Justice

V: Ah, I was forgetting that we are not properly introduced. I do not have a name. You can call me V. Madam Justice...this is V. V... this is Madam Justice. hello, Madam Justice.

Justice: Good evening, V.

V: There. Now we know each other. Actually, I've been a fan of yours for quite some time. Oh, I know what you're thinking...

Justice: The poor boy has a crush on me...an adolescent fatuation.

V: I beg your pardon, Madam. It isn't like that at all. I've long admired you...albeit only from a distance. I used to stare at you from the streets below when I was a child. I'd say to my father, "Who is that lady?" And he'd say "That's Madam Justice." And I'd say "Isn't she pretty."

V: Please don't think it was merely physical. I know you're not that sort of girl. No, I loved you as a person. As an ideal.

Justice: What? V! For shame! You have betrayed me for some harlot, some vain and pouting hussy with painted lips and a knowing smile!

V: I, Madam? I beg to differ! It was your infidelity that drove me to her arms!

V: Ah-ha! That surprised you, didn't it? You thought I didn't know about your little fling. But I do. I know everything! Frankly, I wasn't surprised when I found out. You always did have an eye for a man in uniform.

Justice: Uniform? Why I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. It was always you, V. You were the only one...

V: Liar! Slut! Whore! Deny that you let him have his way with you, him with his armbands and jackboots!

V: Well? Cat got your tongue? I though as much.

V: Very well. So you stand revealed at last. you are no longer my justice. You are his justice now. You have bedded another.

Justice: Sob! Choke! Wh-who is she, V? What is her name?

V: Her name is Anarchy. And she has taught me more as a mistress than you ever did! She has taught me that justice is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike you, Jezebel. I used to wonder why you could never look me in the eye. Now I know. So good bye, dear lady. I would be saddened by our parting even now, save that you are no longer the woman I once loved.

*KABOOM!*
