Yeah, it's been three years and I get to do a twelve hour course (three meetings, four hours each) where I get to be bored out of my mind in order to get my license renewed.
Blah, what a waste of time!
But at least they don't fall on University hours, two classes are on Tuesday which is a free day and the other is on Sunday when I finish classes early.
So it's not all bad.
Other than, you know, it being a complete waste of time!

But oh well, I'll survive and barring any really negligent and crappy driving on my part (unlikely since I'm a defensive driver in any event and hate driving like I'm in a race for my life) I shouldn't need to go to one of these ever again.

And onto something completely different; On the 4th of March Wafa Sultan was in a debate with Tal'at Remieh on Al-Jazeera: Video with translation on MEMRI-TV.
I really admire Wafa Sultan going up against the culture she left, really going into their faces and saying what needs to be said. I don't agree with her politics as such (because she's a bit of a neocon), but I think she needs to be listened to, she's another voice which is often silenced in the Arab and Muslim world, not only as a moderate but also as a woman.

You're a defensive driver? When did this happen? I remember your navigational suggestions much differently.

Navigation and swearing aside :), I don't drive like I own the road... which in this country pretty much means I drive defensively. I rarely speed and even if I do it's usually not a whole lot more than the limit anyway.

I say that I drive on the road like everyone wants to kill me and I try not to kill anyone... that's pretty much my motto.

Not much chance of Muslims listening to anything from Wafa Sultan. There are few if any commentators more reviled in the Muslim world then Wafa Sultan. I don't know if you watch any US news shows but when they bring people like those from the Westboro Baptist Church, the people who say God hates fags and protest at funerals, that is pretty much how Muslims see Wafa Sultan on a show. When I was Muslim I remember hearing people saying she was an Alawi. I'm not saying I agree with any of the attacks on her but as you can see from that clip a lot of it was posturing on the other side, probably Muslim equivalent of the O'Reilly Factor.

Plus anything coming from MEMRI won't help, I posted a clip from MEMRI once about an Islamic practice called mut'ah and was criticized for getting my information from "The Zionists."

V and Justice

V: Ah, I was forgetting that we are not properly introduced. I do not have a name. You can call me V. Madam Justice...this is V. V... this is Madam Justice. hello, Madam Justice.

Justice: Good evening, V.

V: There. Now we know each other. Actually, I've been a fan of yours for quite some time. Oh, I know what you're thinking...

Justice: The poor boy has a crush on me...an adolescent fatuation.

V: I beg your pardon, Madam. It isn't like that at all. I've long admired you...albeit only from a distance. I used to stare at you from the streets below when I was a child. I'd say to my father, "Who is that lady?" And he'd say "That's Madam Justice." And I'd say "Isn't she pretty."

V: Please don't think it was merely physical. I know you're not that sort of girl. No, I loved you as a person. As an ideal.

Justice: What? V! For shame! You have betrayed me for some harlot, some vain and pouting hussy with painted lips and a knowing smile!

V: I, Madam? I beg to differ! It was your infidelity that drove me to her arms!

V: Ah-ha! That surprised you, didn't it? You thought I didn't know about your little fling. But I do. I know everything! Frankly, I wasn't surprised when I found out. You always did have an eye for a man in uniform.

Justice: Uniform? Why I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. It was always you, V. You were the only one...

V: Liar! Slut! Whore! Deny that you let him have his way with you, him with his armbands and jackboots!

V: Well? Cat got your tongue? I though as much.

V: Very well. So you stand revealed at last. you are no longer my justice. You are his justice now. You have bedded another.

Justice: Sob! Choke! Wh-who is she, V? What is her name?

V: Her name is Anarchy. And she has taught me more as a mistress than you ever did! She has taught me that justice is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike you, Jezebel. I used to wonder why you could never look me in the eye. Now I know. So good bye, dear lady. I would be saddened by our parting even now, save that you are no longer the woman I once loved.

*KABOOM!*
