There's just been (and the event the is still continuing on the News) a terrorist attack in Jerusalem.
Edited to add the BBC report and the Ha'aretz report.
Dozens injured and at least (at 21:40) eight confirmed dead (including one of the terrorists, the other is being pursued) at the moment.
The two entered at Mercaz Ha'Rav Yeshivah* and began shooting everyone in their range. This all seemed very strange, because the Central Bus Station is just across the road from the Yeshivah.
It's been suggested that it was going to be a suicide bomb attack, but it didn't go off, so they used the guns they had.
Fuck, this is all very 2003.
*Which happens to be the ideological centre of Gush Emunim.

Date: 2008-03-06 07:43 pm (UTC)Generally the more chaos the better, but it would seem this place was actually specifically targeted.

Date: 2008-03-06 08:24 pm (UTC)The separation fence/wall is like a double edged sword, on the one hand it stopped the terrorist attacks coming from the West Bank, on the other it's used to usurp land and completely disallows any freedom of movement for the Palestinians.
It's all very bad.

Date: 2008-03-06 08:04 pm (UTC)It really is. I don't know what to make of it. I can see why they'd do it in terms of their own morale; I just don't see how they think it'll actually help their people get, you know, progress.
Re: bus station, maybe it wasn't that planned out. Anyway, I'm guessing the bus station security is much tighter than the yeshiva's.

Date: 2008-03-06 09:26 pm (UTC)But I get what you're saying, really I do, but ideology fighting ideology doesn't do any good and most of the time it is the general population that are targeted by terror attacks.
These attacks were done, apparently, by an Israeli Arab org (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3516025,00.html).
At least Abu-Mazen condemned the attack (meaning Fatah and their off-shoots) really didn't do it and he wants to continue the Peace Talks - http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/961705

Date: 2008-03-06 09:58 pm (UTC)i just feel like if you are going to attack people, dont lump everyone together... pick your target based on what you are against.
