Not in all cases. Robert brought up this:

In Hebrew "Barron" and "Barone" are written identically and pronounced the same, so you can imagine what was going on with his co-workers :D

I didn't even think of that sicne I don't watch the show. I was more amused by the similarity to Robber Barons.

And since I'm laughing at your brother, I might as well tell you that my first and last name often get mistaken for a stupid pop folk singer which makes me even more glad that I go by my middle name.

John. I'm named after my paternal grandfather but with the order reversed.

No one in my family has a particularly interesting name. They're all pretty generic and the ones that are less common -- Inez, Dewitt, Helene, Theodore -- are fairly stuffy.
