Take Back the Night!
Nov. 25th, 2006 10:40 pmToday was Stop Violence Against Women Day and there was a Take Back the Night march in Tel Aviv this evening.
I'm very happy I participated in it (my first one), I carried a sign, blew a whistle and had a very nice supper with
morin who was the ride there and back.
There were unfortunately not that many people, most of the various Women's Groups showed their presence and of course חד"ש (the Israeli Communist Party) were there, but then again you can't go to any Left political assembly without them being there to show their support. I'm not particularly fond of חד"ש because while I obviously agree with their Left ideas and ideals, I can't whole heartedly agree with the Party because I'm not a Marxist,
morin then told me about the "Marxist Paradox" - how it wasn't the Proletarian that brought about the Marxist ideas, but the plump and satisfied Bourgeoisie that saw that "Thing weren't Right". Add to that that I'm very much in favour of personal ambition and self-actualization and thus Marxism doesn't really work.
However, seeing as Capitalism is currently being used to perpetrate slavery and create products that last the life time of a fruit fly, I can't really go all Ford on their Marxian asses (not to mention that Ford was an anti-Semite and Marx was Jewish, if mainly lapsed). I hate political economics.
I'm very much in favour of Anarchy... Where's Emma when you need her?
( Cut for triggers to do with violence, assault and rape )
Break the Silence and stop the Shame!
