Those who have known me for enough years know I enjoy fanfiction... specifically of the Slash persuasion (but only in certain fandoms).
I used to avoid comic book Slash fiction, mainly because I could never figure out what continuity I was reading in the book and which continuity I was reading in the fic.
That changed with the X-Men Movies.

It was fantastic to see real life mutants, I mean Patrick Stuart was genius as Professor X, the only characters that really disappointed me were Storm, Cyclops and Rouge.
I personally think the movies did a pretty good job converting the comic books characters to the big screen and the two that did it best were Wolverine and Jean Grey... but in actuality I didn't want to talk about how well they were brought to life.
I want to talk about why Wolverine would get it on with Cyclops... and why Slim would like it to.

Do I speak blasphemy?
Of course, one must veer from comic book mainstream in order to think about this strange pairing.
I'll refrain from speaking of the lovely women of the Marvel universe since they are designed by default to have the potential of Lesbianism, don't believe me? *shrug* All I can say is that male fantasy hasn't changed any more than female fantasy, I wouldn't be discussing slash if that weren't the case.

Other than characters that are actually gay in Marvel (Northstar, Ultimate Colossus etc.) there are three X-Men that to me are kinda queer; Remy (that's Gambit my friends), Scott (Ole' One-Eye) and Logan (*grrr*).
Why?
Well, Remy is just overtly sexy, he has a very high opinion of himself, I mean the object of his desire for the majority of his years in comic book history has been Rouge! The untouchable... literally. To me a person, who is confidant in their sexuality and isn't shy about it has a certain queer quality, man or woman.
Scott, well, he's straight-laced, all American and he loves Jean Goddammit (well Emma as well, but she's not the love of his life).
Logan, he's macho, uncouth, kinda rough and tumble, hair trigger rage... okay, berserk rage, has a thing for red-heads... like Jean.
Where is the evidence of Slash?
Only in fic, my friends, only in fic.
But think about it.
Scott the hero.
Logan the anti-hero.
Scott the all American protagonist.
Logan the Canadian plot over-taker.
Scott who had Jean.
Logan who wanted Jean.
And therein lies the connection, it's very easy to find the spark in these two extreme opposites, where the only thing they "seem" to have in common is their love for the same woman.

(BTW, in Israeli movies there's a trend of two macho men going after the same woman and then seemingly wanting to do one another... Israelis are subtle that way.)

But when you get down to it, Logan and Scott have a lot in common, specifically in the fact that they both want to do the right thing, Logan is a little more pragmatic and opportunistic and Scott is more about playing it fair, but all in all they're both the decent sort.
It's easy to find within their macho pissing contests a bond which Slashers pounce on.
And ya know what, it works.
And not just in a menage with Jean or any other female character someone happens to throw in.
I personally think that Logan is old enough to have had a few guys, not to mention that he is a very animalistic man, if he was horny he'd find the nearest available body and sometimes all you've got on the Canadian by ways are other guys.
Scott, well Scott just needs to find Mr. Right.
Again, sometimes it seems as though Scott is doing a lot of repressing of himself for the greater good and there ain't nothing Logan does better than go after people's weaknesses and use them against them. I have no doubt he would do so in sex as well.

When I discussed this with a friend of mine (I was probably being a bit cruel, since he tries to emulate Scott and he's a little bit homophobic) he was good enough to hear me out and listen to why it would make sense to Slash the two.
As a rebuttal he asked me if I read Femslash as well.
Of course I read Femslash, Jubilee/Kitty is often sweet, Mystique/Anybody Else is always good, Jean/Anybody Else is also quite fine, though I like Jean/Ororo the best, but as I mentioned above and this is especially true with Mystique; the comic book writers present the women with the potential to be sexual with other women, mainly because many straight males (the highest common denominator of comic book readers) have a thing for Lesbian sex.
Slash, while hardly being taboo anymore, is still odd, or weird, or "why do you read that stuff?" when talking about male/male pairings, because women don't have the same desires as men... yeah, whatever.
So while it's a whole lot more blatant with the Painted Ladies that they are willing go all Scissor Sisters with one another, the potential with in the seemingly straight Painted Fellas to go all Beast with Two Backs is just as appealing.
Just open your mind.

V and Justice

V: Ah, I was forgetting that we are not properly introduced. I do not have a name. You can call me V. Madam Justice...this is V. V... this is Madam Justice. hello, Madam Justice.

Justice: Good evening, V.

V: There. Now we know each other. Actually, I've been a fan of yours for quite some time. Oh, I know what you're thinking...

Justice: The poor boy has a crush on me...an adolescent fatuation.

V: I beg your pardon, Madam. It isn't like that at all. I've long admired you...albeit only from a distance. I used to stare at you from the streets below when I was a child. I'd say to my father, "Who is that lady?" And he'd say "That's Madam Justice." And I'd say "Isn't she pretty."

V: Please don't think it was merely physical. I know you're not that sort of girl. No, I loved you as a person. As an ideal.

Justice: What? V! For shame! You have betrayed me for some harlot, some vain and pouting hussy with painted lips and a knowing smile!

V: I, Madam? I beg to differ! It was your infidelity that drove me to her arms!

V: Ah-ha! That surprised you, didn't it? You thought I didn't know about your little fling. But I do. I know everything! Frankly, I wasn't surprised when I found out. You always did have an eye for a man in uniform.

Justice: Uniform? Why I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. It was always you, V. You were the only one...

V: Liar! Slut! Whore! Deny that you let him have his way with you, him with his armbands and jackboots!

V: Well? Cat got your tongue? I though as much.

V: Very well. So you stand revealed at last. you are no longer my justice. You are his justice now. You have bedded another.

Justice: Sob! Choke! Wh-who is she, V? What is her name?

V: Her name is Anarchy. And she has taught me more as a mistress than you ever did! She has taught me that justice is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike you, Jezebel. I used to wonder why you could never look me in the eye. Now I know. So good bye, dear lady. I would be saddened by our parting even now, save that you are no longer the woman I once loved.

*KABOOM!*
