A pretty book
May. 4th, 2006 09:14 pmI have just finished reading The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf.
This book is certainly an eye opener, though for me it was more a bombardment of facts I already knew and was a confirmation of what I had observed of the media myself.
I recommend this book to everyone, man and woman, because it exposes the irrationality of inequality between the sexes in regard to looks, health, economic expectation and in reality, feminism has both achieved and what feminism has become through the crap that is called post-feminism.
I am very proud to call myself feminist, this book, once I have absorbed it's lessons and it's messages will elevate my understanding of myself and through that the way I understand other women.
Once I am back home I am going to pass this book around to every woman I know that has ever complained about how "they feel fat", "hate themselves" and "have to lose five more kilos in order to be perfect".
I am serious.
