I have fandom friends to hang out with IRL!
And they're the friends I had before!
:D
Last night was an evening of home made pizza and meeting with friends in order to watch the season première of True Blood.
Oh, how much does that show rock?!
I am a bit disturbed by the parallels with Twilight, but all I can say that unlike the idiocy of watered down pseudo-romantic drivel, at least True Blood is sex-positive, has a heroine that does stuff and makes things happen - Sookie is freakin' awesome!
There was a bit of discussion of Anna Paquin coming out as Bi, which I wooted at (being the token Bi chick... I'm pretty sure other members of my little group are Bi, but it's ostensibly speaking K and I are the only culturally queer peeps).
True Blood, beyond being sex-positive, also has a track record of queer visibility and this episode did indeed deliver that, nothing explicit alas, unlike the het, which was... ahem, explicit.
I also hope there will be some Lesbian Content that doesn't include a man viewing the scene. I'm kind of irritated that every single scene (correct me if I'm wrong) that had the notions of girl-on-girl, as opposed to guy-on-guy, included a male character viewing the action.
Friends, Lesbian sex is real sex even if there is no Penis to see it happening!
Also, Pam needs to wear more pink. It's hawt! (is it just me or is she a fantastic blend between Darla's drollness and ruthlessness and Harmony's aesthetic? Brill!).
It was particularly hilarious at the end of the evening when K rewound the ep and He, two of our straight girl friends and I sat around to watch the most painfully punny homoerotic scene in the ep. It was awesome.
The queerer the merrier Mr. Ball!
*sigh* I can't wait for next week!
