I have a bunch of tags open to reaction posts I haven't read yet.
If you are still interested in talking... *sigh* I'm here.
Long hair = / = girl.
Seriously.
Plot wise... I'm sorry, it wasn't very good. Crackalacking. So many openings, too many things happening.
Who The Fuck Is That Woman?!?!
Are You Telling the Weeping Angles are Time Lords who feed on people's "time they would have had"?!?!
Why are we lacking so much information!!!!????!!!!!
*Deep breath* I'm okay. I'm fine.
Character wise, yes, oh yes.
"You could be beautiful" cue the tears. God, the love. The real raw love. The Doctor is the only one again and I wonder if this new upstart with the long hair is going to manage.
I hear Redheads are it.
He called Donna his best friend. I really liked that.
Wilf.
Oh. My. God. Wilfred Mott was a soldier in Palestine during the Mandate!
How much did I <3 that?
C'mon, guess?
So fucking much.
The whole discussion between them and the gun was, I'm really sorry, loaded. Just, leaden. I don't think there was scene between the two of them in which I didn't cry. Gah, it was fantastic.
Two old men, with too many memories and too many scars.
"Do you think he changed them, in their graves" fuck, just writing that made me shiver and start crying again.
Beyond that it was all: Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.
Oh and Tennant in bondage... *stares*
Okay, the saying goodbye to the companions bit was good. Like in Waters of Mars the final ten minutes sold it. Here he was Timelord Victorious as well, but better. As he died, he found he could do something good for his companions.
The Ood Song was a glorious Swan Song.
I wonder if Eleven will be more willing to be not so absolutist about anything. As adaptable as Ten was, Nine was actually far more flexible and accepting.
Ten's absolutist nature made him very, very unmerciful and while it helped is many ways, it caused him (and others) pain where it didn't have to.
Martha and Micky are married?! WTF?
Luke and Sarah Jane... hmmm, I need to start with that now, huh?
Jack in the bar, very fitting. I liked it. I was very happy to see Jack smile and maybe find a moment of solace. We don't know how long it's been for him. It could be six months and a day since the end of CoE, it could six years, it could be 600... we don't know.
But Jack would do this.
And you know what? Ianto would give him his blessing to do so!
I'm as much a shipper as the rest of 'em, but we have to be true to the characters, yo!
Donna gets her wedding and wins the lottery!
Meeting Rose for the Last Time/First Time in 2005. Very sweet.
A closure, I don't know how good it is. But it's over.
Why oh why did the Tardis have to burn!?
And now, I go hunting for fic. So much to expand and so much to fix.

Date: 2010-01-02 06:18 pm (UTC)I found it... well, a perfect closure for a while. Jack looks sad in the beginning, with all the weight of the world on his shoulders (it seems to me CoE was not so long ago). Alonso also looks like he's fresh from the Titanic. They are good for each other right now, because they can distract each other, and then share... things. Like survivor's guilt, or the greatness and the sadness of their stories, or just simple body warmth. It can be one night stand, it can be a big thing. Whatever.
I hate that some Janto shippers and Ianto lovers react aggressively to this scene. You think Jack should always love/want/be with Ianto, and only Ianto? Really?! Jack has a heart bigger than the Sun, he can love/want/be with thousands, at once or one after another.
I love Ianto, I'm even deeply invested in Save Ianto Jones Campaign, but I think that this scene was good and respectful for both Ianto's (unspoken) memory and Jack's everyday grief.
BTW, Adipose falling was super-cute.

Date: 2010-01-02 06:20 pm (UTC)I've been avoiding the Janto shippers reaction to the whole thing. I'm very happy that traumatised Jack is getting better and won't be wallowing forever.
Alonso is just too sweet and yeah, they could both use a stiff... something or other ;)

Date: 2010-01-02 06:47 pm (UTC)When I think about it, I'm also not pleased about Donna's resolution. I was hoping that she'd regain her memories through some kind of loophole–like she couldn't remember Ten without dying, but since Eleven is technically a different person...oh, I don't know.
Luke and Sarah Jane... hmmm, I need to start with that now, huh?
Have you seen the series? It is my favourite. The Doctor's goodbye on that show was a million times more heartbreaking than "End of Time," and far more underplayed.
I will also say that burning the TARDIS? Totally in character. I LOL'd. Poor TARDIS.

Date: 2010-01-03 11:28 am (UTC)I quite liked the way it wrapped up - once Ten had gotten on with it. I liked all his good byes and little fixes, and I think Eleven is going to be a blast.
Wilf owns me now - he made me cry so many times in that last episode.

Date: 2010-01-03 12:14 pm (UTC)You're right of course. A whole lot of crap happened. I think it was a bit of sick looking smile, straining, as though he's flexing muscles he's not used to anymore. Personally, I'm pretty sure he shagged, drank and killed himself for six months straight before leaving Earth. I think the Doctor was saying to him "I know you did bad things, boy do I know, you're allowed to move on" - who knows if Alonso isn't just another shag, it's very open ended. t was more about the Doctor enabling Jack to be the sexual being that he is rather than telling him "Stop it" when all Jack does is "saying hello".

Date: 2010-01-03 12:16 pm (UTC)I loved the whole scenario - "Don't you dare put him above them", brill.
I think Eleven is going to be great... I'm still mourning and woeful. Ten was and always will be my Doctor. I started wearing Converse All Star trainers because of him!
