Making some dough
Jun. 5th, 2007 12:50 pmMy cousin has an eight month old baby.
I'm an experienced nanny.
Ergo...
I babysat the baby this morning.
Didn't go well.
He was all nice and pudgy to begin with, but I knew I was in trouble when he woke up from his one hour nap half and hour early.
It all went down hill from there.
He wouldn't play, so I picked him up.
He wouldn't stay in my arms, so I put him down.
He started to cry.
And no matter what I did, he wouldn't stop.
I don't panic when babies cry, it's what they do, it's in their blue print, they cry until they can talk and even that doesn't stop until they're like seven years old (or if you're like me, you continue to cry until you're in your twenties).
So He cried.
I tried to feed him, should have seen him messing on himself.
I changed his nappy and he still didn't calm down.
Now I hate calling the mothers when the babies cry, because normally it tells them that the nanny can't handle the things they're supposed to handle in the mother's absence, but thise being my first day with him and all I thought "what the hell".
So I called she suggested I just give him the formula bottle and be done with it.
Poor boy kept crying during the feed but he definitely calmed down a little, I then let him lie on me for a while, as I channel surfed on the TV, yeah I know it's considered bad form to let the TV babysit, but when you're a bind and there's no mobile in sight a TV is as good as any other visual aid.
He fell asleep again about ten minutes before him mother and big sister came to pick him up.
And paid me. Always remember the moula people.
Poor baby, missed his mommy and wasn't used to his big cousin who has no hair to pull, or chew on to comfort himself.
Oh, well. There's always tomorrow.
Yep.
Tomorrow it is.
In addition, the genocide in Darfur must be stopped.
וכמו כן, צריך לעצור את רצח העם בדרפור.
