Call Me River...

Why, oh why, did this season have to be so mediocre and suck until we arrived to this brilliant piece of non-linear story telling?!

Why, oh why, was there so much erasure, retconing and such until we were so frustrated and unhappy with the direction it was going to slam this whammy onto us.

Dudes, everything that's going on, since the Library has been River's story!

How ingenious is this?!

Also, all the queer warriors! Oh, how I missed you all, where had you gone?

I'm still not convinced the whole feminine/motherhood trauma was necessary for the plot. I cried when the baby turned to Flesh. In fact I cried every time the baby was on screen, that kind of vulnerability (the infant's and the mother's) moves me in a way I don't really know how to talk about.

Also, if River is the Time-Girl from earlier in the season, didn't she remember being used by the Silence? I'm a bit confused by that, but I'm willing to wait to see what happens (in the bloody Autumn!).

River's name is Melody! Let me tell you, I screamed, because you know something, that is a Superhero name.

River Song is Melody Pond. How bloody brilliant is that? It kind of makes me want to go to the registry and add "Pond" to my name. I don't have a middle name, so why the hell not! ;-P

And, I need River icons now!

didn't she remember being used by the Silence?

No, cos as soon as you turn away from them you forget them!

I thought River might BE Amy or Amy's mum!!

This is Moffat at the helm, when he gets an episode to tell his story. Interesting that he's rationed out to one or two per sequence - if we let him have a full run, I wonder how far along the narrative we'd advance.

It helps to close some threads, and opens up a whole new narrative arc to get through. Let's follow the adventures of Melody Pond, part Time Lord. Will we see her end up in a Doctor-Donna situation?

True. Maybe he's keeping all the good bits to himself, then. Was RTD that much better at keeping good quality in his fillers?

Either way, there does seem to be a noticeable quality jump when we go back to Moffat-headlined episodes compared to other ones.

That makes sense, and with the exception of Gaiman, yeah, I think that's been the case.
