Must. Keep. Going... *phlunk*

The Lit. test I had earlier this week was a total disruption, not to mention absolute pain.
The week away in South Africa really whacked up my whole schedule and I'm only, now, finally getting my act together, just in time tow finish off an three page essay for Sunday, a one page essay for Thursday and a ten page analysis fort he following Monday.

Add to that another exam I'm taking on the 18th (approx. two weeks from now, less actually now that I think about), plus the regular reading I need to do for my classes.

A wee bit overwhelmed... which is why I'm wasting time blogging about it. Duh, right?

My life is quite quickly reducing itself and the semester is already half way and soon it will be over and then I'll have even more exams!

*wails against the injustice of being a First Year student who feels she has no idea what she's doing*

No first years have any idea what they're doing, I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.

But, but... pressure!

And now I have that Queen song running through my head.

You'll get through it! While not a motto to live by, if it helps you de-stress, remember that done is better than good. :) And as far as I can tell, at least in the States, it's not that older students know what to do and first years don't but rather that older students have mostly figured out what they can get away with not doing...

Sounds accurate enough.
I'll be spending the majority of tomorrow writing.
I've done all the reading I can for today... that and actually arranging my papers. That takes a whole lot longer now than it did in High school.

I dunno if this is going to be of any use in your situation, but I found it helped a lot to realise that you don't get 'brownie points' for sheer work but for working at the things that are most relevant/working 'thoughtfully'. I can't explain this all that well but with uni work, there's always the temptation to cover everything in great detail because you did that at school, or because you feel 'cutting corners' would be irresponsible, etc, but I found that once you get into the habit of questioning 'do I really need to do this/spend this much time and effort here' then you find that there is time to do everything without getting into a big stress and you get better results anyway because you're less overwhelmed.
