My personal review of HP:Gof

[livejournal.com profile] hagar_972 (from what I understood when you told me about it) and [livejournal.com profile] tamara_russo (according to her post after she saw the movie), did you really think the movie was that good?
Because in comparison to your reactions... I thought the movie kinda sucked.

But not really.
My reaction to the film was lukewarm... I don't know if it had to do with the minuscule screen time of Alan Rickman and Miranda Richardson (thank God for Maggie Smith), but basically the first three are far superior to this one.
And what the fuck was with the objectified French Girls and the Cossack Bulgarians?! And why the hell was the Albanian flag used as a sail on that convoluted U-Boat?!
Also, the whole Harry/Hermione thing... though I do think it's a better pairing than the horrible Hr/R... it came across a little too strongly in the film, where it is practically non-existent in the book.

Voldemort looked disgusting and not in the evil, megalomaniac way he's supposed to be... Why does Ralph Fiennes do this to himself, really? Okay so he played a Nazi, so now he has to play a Klan leader (what was with the KKK knock-off outfits... not how I imagined the DE's at all.

Over all, it was lighthearted entertainment, a lot funnier than the other movies and I'm really glad Rupert Grint's voice finally settled, at least now he doesn't sound like a dying baby bull frog...

The major pluses: Emma Watson (Hermione) is turning out to be a knockout babe, Alan Rickman (duh!), the Weasly Twins (always good to see, and they've grown up nice) and the special effects were awesome.

The major minuses: Not enough of Rita Skeeter's involvement, thus reducing Hermione to a teary female sidekick from the kick-ass teenage witch she is in the book, the Klan hoods (they're supposed to be Nazis, not white trash American idiots), the scenes the were choppy and cut very dry, it's obvious there's a lot of scraps on the editing room floor and last but not least, the movie's ending did not reflect the major change in atmosphere of the books, the ending was schmaltzy and annoying... like most American made Hollywood Flicks

Hope this was informative to you all.

I didn't like the film that much. I said it wasn't dark at all. I said the totally screwed up the ending. That there was too much annoying pyrothechniques instead of plot time.

The good things I said: good visuals, couple of funny momemnts, bit of energy in the beginning.

And yes, they totall screwed up Voldermort and the DE.

Okay, I'll change so it doesn't implicate you that much... :)
