The American Natural History Museum

Sunday I returned to the Big Apple and saw [livejournal.com profile] orcabee once again, and she was kind enough to be my kind once again, thanks sweetie!

We went to the American Natural History Museum, all I can say is WOW!
I was reminded greatly by the Natural History Museum in London, which I have visited quite a bit in my previous trips to England, but for some reason this seemed much larger (most likely due to the fact that all the special exhibits cost extra and I didn't even touch those!) and full of beautiful exhibits.
My favourite was the Endangered Animal Exhibit (which had too many stuffed animals unfortunately) - it was strange seeing a stuffed Panda and Cheetah when just a week earlier I saw live ones at the Washington Zoo - I felt a bit sad after-wards.
Both [livejournal.com profile] orcabee and I went Ga-Ga! over the marine mammal exhibit, since we're both whale freaks and mourned when Keiko died *moment of silence* but at least she died free.
I was a tad annoyed that the language they used on the explanation placks was American English, but then again I'm a Euro-snob :) And that they clumped all the South American, African and Asian Anthropological exhibitions on one floor and didn't give each Continent it's due respect.

We had lunch at a very nice Sushi place (I love Shrimp Tempura and California Roll!) and coffee (not at Starbucks!!!!) at a place called World Coffee (or was it Coffee World?) and we shared a chocolate truffle cake (*dies*) and had a great time was had by all!

On the bus home, a guy pulled out some yarn and begun knitting, I was over come by curiosity and asked him what he was knitting - from that began a whole knitting lesson (I taught him how to purl and knit in stockinette) and we just has a very nice conversation. Probably the best bus rides I've had in quite a while and I reached Philly in time for the last train.

It was a good day!

LOL

Well, it involved Faith - of course. And was about the nature of Slayers and their relationship with death. I really liked what you said and it made me think which is good...especially considering the amount of time I spend thinking about Buffy and Faith, that you could talk about them in a different way than I've thought before was inspiring.
