Fandom Familiy

My eldest sister has just finished reading the seventh Harry Potter book and in firmly in the Epilogue? What Epilogue? camp.

Which makes me happy.

Due to her dissatisfaction she went online to find analyses of the books and from there the jump to fanfiction wasn't far.

She's been reading Snape/Hermione fics.

This makes me ecstatic!

We spent the whole evening discussing Dumbledore (is he good or is evil - we say very not good indeed), our hatred of Hermione/Ron, and why the epilogue was full of crap!

My *squeeee* will never be harshed!

Heee. Family interests are always a great, great thing, aren't they?

Also, Dumbledore is definitely not a good man...but Ron-Hermione is supposedly destined, because every smart girl needs an oaf to fall madly in love with.

Wouldn't be much of an adventure story between a boy and his mates if Hermione went with someone in Ravenclaw whom she was happy with. They'd be stuck trying to have wacky hijinx with Luna Lovegood or something, and heaven knows that just wouldn't fly...

[/sarcasm]

It would have been much better had Hermione actually gone with someone her equal or Ron turned out to not be quite so much of an oaf as the books went on, but no, he's stuck in his role, too.

I don't think Dumbledore is very nice, certainly. Oh what the hell honestly he's kind of fucked up, but I do think that he--by no means all of his actions, mind--was necessary.

I had a dream about Sorcerer's Stone last night actually, now that I think about it, it was a movie that in some weird world had been made after book 6, so they were talking about the Peverells? I'm not sure, my brain is strange, but the point of the dream was Harry aged 11 agreeing with Dumbledore's plans for his life past and future and telling Voldemort that it was worth the cost to him, Harry, personally. And then I thought again about how much Harry loves Dumbledore, oh poor Harry. People Dumbledore loves do not have happy lives.

I prefer Draco/Hermione, but if you have any good Snape/Hermione recs…

I just finished a re-read, and the epilogue is so wrong, so stupid. And then I remembered the sneak peeks from the film which came out awhile ago, in which they are all aged up to look 50-60 instead of 36... so much fail.

I haven't been paying attention at all to the movies purposely, but... seriously? YIKES.
