Every now and then the police arrest somebody suspected of some terrible, violent crime, and as a piece of public relations they'll announce all of the horrible books, movies and/or CDs they found in the suspect's house, as if to prove that the suspect is obviously guilty and horrible and monstrous.
So here is my challenge to you. You can either do this from memory or take a moment to look through your book and music collections, and then answer this question:
Name ten books, CDs and/or movies that you own that the police would cite as evidence against you at their press conference.
Now, I don't actually have much "subversive" stuff in Hard Copy (I'm pretty screwed if the authorities get their hands on Ursula the Laptop and/or my Disk-on-Key), but here are the things I think may raise some suspicion if I'm deemed "anti-social":
I have some Naomi Klein, Noam Chomsky, Bertrand Russel and the like, and of course, other books about sexuality (queer, BDSM) and various other feminist politics, but those are just for fun.
Of course.

- Sedek: a periodial about the Nakba that is now.
- Palestine by Joe Sacco
- The S.C.U.M Manifesto by Valerie Solanas.
- Days of War, Nights of Love by Crimethinc (such utter crap, but still, it's on my book shelf)
- Scapegoat: The Jews, Israel and Women's Liberation by Andrea Dwarkin.
- Live Working or Die Fighting: How the working class went global by Paul Mason.
- Cunt by Inga Muscio
- My various Queercore and Riot Grrl Zines and Queercore and Riot Grrl Bootlegged CD's.
- My Polianna Frank CD's.
- Wild Nights in Guantanamo Bay by The Kominas.

Anyway, I'll struggle to fill ten, but here we go:
- Music: Various albums by Marilyn Manson
- Book: "The Third Reich: A New History" by Michael Burleigh
- Book: Autobiography of Nelson Mandela
- Movie: "Downfall"
- Music: "Murder Ballads" by Nick Cave
- Book: "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu
- Others: "Grand Theft Auto" on Playstation 2
- Others: Various Warhammer miniatures (basically toy soldiers) that resemble German WW1 infantry
OK, that's only 8 things that I can think of but the tabloids would have a field day in portraying me as a Nazi-obsessed sociopath with delusions of military grandeur who hates Jesus. However, since a lot of my albums are downloaded onto my computer, that alone would probably make me worse than Pol Pot and Stalin combined in their eyes! :)

Oh, and of course, Sci-Fi literature! Always the sign of a criminal mind :P

It's really good. I recommend "Exit Wounds" by Rutu Modan as well, as a kind of critical mainstream comic book of Israeli society.
It's awesome.
