*sigh*

Mummy asked Daddy to go see "300" with her, he said no, since he didn't like the trailers.
I asked her why on earth she would want to go see it.
Her answer: It is getting rave reviews in America.
Oooookay.

I told her it wasn't like "Gladiator" (which was good) and probably more like "Troy" (which sucked so badly I felt my brain melt as I watched it).

Well, she liked "Troy", but there's no accounting for taste, I too on occasion like the crappy stuff - I don't care what you say "Matrix: Reloaded" rocked!.

So she looked at me and got annoyed that I was criticizing her taste in movies, which is something we normally share, which is why I don't understand why she won't listen to me.

Short story long, I'll be seeing "300" with her (I know, I suck), but she's paying so I don't feel too bad.

300 was much better than Gladiator. Gladiator was an overwrought pretentious pile of poo with moderately pretty shots and the slight redeeming value of a handful of buff men.

300 doesn't try to impart some half-assed message (unless you read way too much into it,) is beautifully shot and is overflowing with sexiness. There are even some really funny moments.

Only drawback, the silly cornfield scenes which seem to be required in such movies, i hated them in gladiator too.

Really? Huh.

It's just that I have an issue of principal regarding Frank Miller and I really hated "Sin City", so I'm going in there with very low expectations... so I'll probably enjoy it to a certain degree.

it is very different from sin city. I enjoyed the presentation of sin city, but i think it was overrated.

300 is really just a good ol' action movie sprinkled with gay innuendo. if anything, it's two hours of eye candy :)

Sorry, I liked Troy better than Gladiator as well. The battle scenes were much more realistic, as far as I can remember, and the plot was also much more interesting. in Troy more or less all the heros die tragically, whereas in Gladiator, well, a Gladiator challanges the emperor to a duel (huh?) and returns the rule to the Senate (huh??)

I've heard that 300 is insaaanely offensive.

But, ya know, Frank Miller.

I look forward to your thoughts on it! Personally I hate "historical" war movies of any kind. Paint me completely uninterested in battle scenes.

I'm with you babe!

Also likd Matrix II quite a bit (got bad at the end, and III was crap, of course). The quality of the movies is a decreasing series...
