I do not think, nor do I know of any one gay, lesbian or queer culture or history. If I implied otherwise then I need to rectify that by saying that I am speaking in a broad spectrum.
I'm not American, my culture (gay or otherwise) isn't American, but when we write in fandoms that are American, or British, or South African, or Japanese etc, I think we have to take into account that these various queer culture exist and have had an impact on the queer identities.
